For players ages 8 and up*

*Please note: any players under age 10 must be supervised by their guardian at all times as outlined in SPL's Unattended Minors Policy.

Summer Library Chess Club is for enthusiasts to engage in open chess play at SPL on Saturday mornings during the 10 weeks of summer.

  • Basic chess knowledge is needed to participate as Library Chess Club is not a class.
  • Chess sets are provided; however, as this is a casual club, SPL does not provide clocks.
  • Play against whomever you wish among your fellow participants.
  • Pre-registration for each player is recommended but not required. Walk-ins will be accommodated as space allows.

Photography

Please note that photographs and/or footage may be taken throughout the event. These will be used by the library for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media. Please consult with a librarian if you have any concerns or if you wish to be exempt from this activity.

Unattended Children

Parents and Caregivers should be attentive to children under their care at all times during the program. Children are not permitted to be left unsupervised by their caregiver unless over the age of 10.
