Beloved librarian, and leader of Nancy’s Book Group, has stopped by again with even more recommendations; so many that we have put them into a playlist! It starts with Clara Black . If you are interested in any of these works, check The Cloud Library or Overdrive.
Recently the New York Times published a fun article in which the bookshelves of famous folks were visible over their shoulders during interviews. Check it out here . Despite my lack of fame, I figured I’d join in, hence my messy bookshelf up there to the left.
“The Ten Thousand Doors of January” is the first novel of Alix E. Harrow, and it is a tour de force of lyricism. It is a portal fantasy in the same vein as the Narnia books, Alice in Wonderland, and more recently Seanan McGuire’s “Every Heart a Doorway”. The written word can create doors to new worlds. In fact, this is the subject of the book I’m currently reading, “The Ten Thousand Doors of January” by Alix E. Harrow. But I’ll be discussing that book next week in my next video review.

Zucchini, a summer squash, is also known as courgette. Although zucchini is considered a vegetable it is botanically classified as a fruit. It comes in several varieties, which can range in color anywhere from yellow to a dark green. Zucchini is rich in many nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial plant compounds. The young fruits are primarily cooked as vegetables.

Need a reason to celebrate? Who doesn’t these days? Let’s commemorate and celebrate (some of the) authors whose birthdays occur in April and whose works provide endless consolation and inspiration in the best and worst of times. So, lift a glass (and a book) to the following literary lights:
Adult Services Librarian and science fiction / fantasy nerd is back with another book review. This week he’ll be reviewing “Strange Exit” by Parker Peevyhouse. This is Parker’s second book, following up her debut novel “The Echo Room”.
Music can transport us to another time, certain songs can evoke happy memories. From bubblegum pop to heavy metal or somewhere in between for my generation, 80’s tunes can start us dancing, singing, or banging our heads to the music.
