The 9/11 Memorial Museum serves as the country’s principal institution for examining the attacks of September 11, 2001 and documenting their continuing impact and significance. The 9/11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance, honoring the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon. It recognizes the courage of those who survived, and salutes those who risked their lives to help others.
