Group Visits to the Scarsdale Public Library

The Scarsdale Public Library encourages group visits to the Library by local schools, organizations, and groups.  This includes but is not limited to organized groups of four or more individuals (adults and/or children), including such groups as those from childcare centers and homes; nursery schools; local public, charter and private schools; scout groups; day camps; adult education programs; adult day support programs; and other institutions and organizations.

In order to ensure a quality library experience for every library user, the Library requires all groups to schedule their visit at least two weeks prior to coming to the library, even if staff assistance is not required.  Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate groups that come to the library without scheduling their visit in advance, and they may be asked to leave.

The Library reserves the right to limit the number of scheduled groups (and/or to limit their size) for any given period, so as to maintain a quality library experience for everyone by ensuring that general library operations are not disrupted.  Our Code of Conduct is linked here for your reference: https://www.scarsdalelibrary.org/policies/code-conduct

Group visits may last from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the age(s) of your group and any additional pre-approved requests. Instructions on locating and using library resources/services can take 30 to 40 minutes, a story time or book talk may take 20 to 30 minutes. Library staff will work with you to determine the length of your visit based on your needs when you schedule your visit.
