Your Poetic Holiday Recess

Worried you might get bored or dull during Holiday Recess? Your librarian is here to rescue your brain from going mushy while you are home from school. I have poetry-writing challenges for you to complete, one for each weekday of Holiday Recess = 10 in all!

We still have poetry packets, so please ask for one at the Reference Desk if you are interested.

A poetry packet includes:

• A copy of Selected Poems by Gwendolyn Brooks to keep while supplies last (you will need this for challenge #10), and
• 10 dated envelopes, each containing a poetry-writing challenge for a weekday during Holiday Recess [These 10 challenges will follow the order of this Book Bub article by Kayti Lahsaiezadeh, "10 Essential Types of Poetry."]

If you are wisely avoiding public places right now, you can still participate from home:

• Read the above-linked article online, and
• Use https://www.poetryfoundation.org or similar website in order to complete your tenth challenge.
