April is National Poetry Month.
To celebrate, we'll be creating our own blackout poetry. Blackout poetry is a mixture of poetry and art made by taking any form of printed text and blacking out the unwanted words to create a poem or statement. Standard techniques usually involve a black sharpie marker, but have evolved into other traditional (and even untraditional) types of art mediums.
Use a black sharpie, colored pencils, paints, markers, or whatever you want to create your own blackout poem. The kits will include a selection of book pages and a black Sharpie. Feel free to use these, or anything else you have lying around at home to make your own creation. There are truly no rules. Your poem can be as artistic or simple, or as serious or nonsensical as you choose. Anything goes!
No artistic or poetic skills are necessary.
Check here for some examples of blackout poems of all types:

We can create our poems together over Zoom and share what we came up with.
Registrants will be contacted when your kits are available to pick up.
You will receive an email with the Zoom link approximately an hour before the beginning of the event.
