Event Details
Join us to discuss books about impactful social issues! In March, we’ll be reading The Color Purple by Alice Walker and learning how to support victims of domestic violence. Come to the Scott Room on Friday March 11 @ 2:45 PM to participate.
The Color Purple depicts the lives of African American women in early twentieth-century rural Georgia. Separated as girls, sisters Celie and Nettie sustain their loyalty to and hope in each other across time, distance and silence. Through a series of letters spanning twenty years, first from Celie to God, then the sisters to each other, the novel carries readers on a journey towards love and redemption and breaks the silence on domestic abuse.
