Please join us for our annual literary event, Scarsdale Salon & Salon de Belleville, with moderators Ines Rodrigues and Plinio Ribeiro Jr. Four artists from different locales and genres will read samples of their works and answer questions from the audience. The theme of this year’s gathering is “Beyond Words.”
Ines Rodrigues is a journalist, fiction writer (author of the novel Days of Bossa Nova) and teacher in the creative writing programs at Sarah Lawrence College's Writing Institute and at the Bronxville Adult School.
Plinio Ribeiro Jr. is a journalist, researcher, visual artist and curator living in Paris since 2001, with a master’s degree in Literature, Arts and Aesthetics. His portfolio includes multi-disciplinary projects dealing with memory, otherness (as part of personal and social identities) and multiculturalism.
LUIZ FUKUSHIRO was born and raised in Brazil. He has a masters degree and a PhD in Education by the University of São Paulo and he is a researcher in Nipo-Brazilian art. He is a calligrapher and he is member of the Brazilian Association of Shodō (Japanese calligraphy). He will show us the art of Japanese calligraphy.
ADITI GARG is a journalist by education, a copywriter by profession, and a poet since she was nine. She will join us from India, where she lives. She has contributed dozens of cover-stories, articles and book reviews to many National Dailies and hosts a fortnightly poetry reading circle ,Poetry by Other Poets in Chandigarh. Her work has been accepted in the Yearbook of Indian
HENRY SUAREZ is a storyteller and writer born and raised in Corona, Queens. He recounts his escapades trying to maintain his Dominican culture as a first-generation American, the unpredictability of parenthood, and his struggle to keep his sanity in midlife through a comical, and relatable perspective. His narratives have appeared in New York Times Tiny Love, DWA Cuenticos, and Acentos Review
