Join us in the Scott Room for a discussion with local author, Peter H. Spitz, on his fascinating new book, Reflections on History: How the Industrial Revolution Created Our Way of Life.

Peter H. Spitz's meticulous research and absorbing writing reveal the stories behind the breakthrough inventions that characterized the 300 years between the industrial revolution and the present time. Our lives are enhanced by the benefits of modernity that we owe to people such as Guglielmo Marconi (radio), Charles Babbage (computers),  Alexander Fleming (penicillin) and many others. In twenty five chapters Peter H. Spitz describes the origins and impacts of iconic inventions and discoveries and answers the question: how did we get from there to here?

Peter H. Spitz, an MIT graduate, is a retired chemical industry executive who has published several significant books on technical subjects. In addition to his books, Peter H. Spitz has written numerous articles and lectured at MIT and elsewhere. He lives in Scarsdale, NY.
