Defensive Driving with AARP

Reduce points on your license and get discounts on your car insurance with this NYDMV approved in-person six-hour defensive driving course. The AARP Smart Driver program offers proven driving techniques and information to help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road, including the impacts of medication on driving, the latest driver assistance technologies, and driving while in a variety of hazardous conditions.

This program is offered in partnership with Maida Silver, the Village of Scarsdale Parks and Recreation Senior Coordinator, and the Scarsdale Seniors Club.

PROGRAM DETAILS - PLEASE READ

The cost for this program is $25 for AARP members and $30 for nonmembers, paid by exact cash or check made out to AARP. Please bring your AARP membership card to receive the reduced fee. During the course, there will be a lunch break of 30 minutes and two 15 minutes breaks. Food is available for purchase at the library café, and you are also welcome to bring your own lunch.

A valid driver's license is necessary to participate in this course, and AARP will need to collect your driver's license ID number and date of birth on the day of the class for you to be eligible for insurance premium reductions. Check with your own insurance provider for how to obtain available discounts once you receive your certificate of course completion.
