Program Description

Event Details

Join us in the Scott Room for a family friendly Chinese language film. This program works to provide Chinese families with an environment where their culture is celebrated and appreciated through films. Each film will be screened in either Mandarin or Cantonese with English subtitles.

The film for December is the 2024 comedy drama YOLO. Based loosely off of the 2014 Japanese film 100 Yen Love, YOLO tells the story of Du Leying, an introverted and adrift young woman who has neglected her health and relationships. After quarreling with her sister, Leying moves out of her parents' house and take a menial job at a restaurant. There, she runs into Hao Kun, a down-on-his-luck boxing coach at a struggling gym. After several misunderstandings, the two develop feelings for each other, and Leying takes up boxing both to get physically fit and to finally try to win for once in her life. Released in China during the Lunar New Year holiday, YOLO became the highest grossing Chinese film of 2024.

This monthly event is completely free, and refreshments will be provided!

This event is cosponsored by the OCA-WHV.
