Program Description

Event Details

Join us in the Scott Room for a family friendly Chinese language film. This program works to provide Chinese families with an environment where their culture is celebrated and appreciated through films. Each film will be screened in either Mandarin or Cantonese with English subtitles.

For September, the film will be the 2017 family drama The Kid From The Big Apple: Before We Forget, a sequel to the critically acclaimed The Kid From The Big Apple where the traditional Chinese doctor Lin Chun Gen and his granddaughter Sarah from New York learned to put up with each other when Sarah went to live with him in Malaysia. Now, Sarah and her mom are visiting again after Master Lin retired from his clinic, but hard choices are looming with Lin showing signs of dementia. A charming, heart-warming look at family and traditional culture with a strong cast of lovable characters.

This monthly event is completely free, and refreshments will be provided!

This event is cosponsored by the OCA-WHV.

Unattended Children

Parents and Caregivers should be attentive to children under their care at all times during the program. Children are not permitted to be left unsupervised by their caregiver unless over the age of 10.
