Program Description

Event Details

American music has been immeasurably enriched by African American artists and styles. Gospel, Blues, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, Reggae... the list of genres that would have never existed or have missed out on some brilliant influences goes on and on. Even before there was a United States, there has been African American music. This presentation is a salute and a celebration of that legacy where we'll learn about some of those amazing artists and listen to plenty of great music along the way.
