I recently finished watching the Ken Burns PBS special “Country Music”, which to me perfectly illustrates our interconnectedness through music. With this in mind, I thought I would put together an Americana in Hoopla selection. Well, I think they all qualify as Americana, but in order to avoid a technical faux pas, I opted to call it American Greats. Either way, click on each artist to find them on Hoopla.  My all time favorite is Dwight Yoakam; besides his voice and the fact that he puts on a fantastic show, he incorporates various American staples into the Bakersfield sound in which he is grounded.

Another documentary you may want to check out is This Ain’t No Mouse Music on Kanopy. The film follows Chris Strachwitz founder of Arhoolie Records. He is described as an archaeologist of deep American music; the film explores Blues, Tex-Mex and Cajun artists, most of whom never made it mainstream.
