“Survival in Shanghai” is a documentary produced by the Shanghai Media Group about the Jewish refugees who fled to Shanghai during World War II to escape the Holocaust. The documentary was screened in April at the Jewish Community Center of Mid Westchester and we were lucky enough to be joined by producer Meixing Ren and survivors Ellen Chaim Krako, Betty Grebenschikoff, and Evelyn Rubin. While we won’t be joined by them at this screening, we will be showing the full 90 minute version as opposed to the 70 minute version shown last time. You won’t find this documentary for sale on Amazon. This is a unique opportunity to learn about little-known aspect of World War II from a Chinese perspective.
