Book Launch for “Days of Bossa Nova” by Scarsdale Author Ines Rodriguez

Saturday, June 3rd at 12:00 PM

Days of Bossa Nova is the first novel of Ines Rodrigues, a Scarsdale author published by Black Opal Books (May, 2017).

It’s a historical fiction about family, love, greed and music, set in the fascinating and chaotic São Paulo, the largest city in South America, where the author grew up and worked as a journalist, before landing in New York years ago.

Days of Bossa Nova presents two different timelines, where the main character, Felipe Navarra, rises from poverty to conquer the city he loves. He becomes a radio celebrity in the age of Bossa Nova, classic sambas and radionovelas. On his way to fame and money, he faces a heartbreaking love story with Valentina, his childhood sweetheart, and sells his soul to the dark dictatorship that took over Brazil from 1964 to 1985. His ascent is an inverted parallel with the city’s fall into a crime-ridden place, where the gap between rich and poor gets dangerously wide.
